Shuichi's past

Shuichi living as a hikikomori.

Due to his lizard-like appearance, Shuichi Iguchi was a constant victim of discrimination. His early life consisted of living among people who thought of him as a freak, trying to do anything about it was futile and he was filled with nothing but emptiness. He grew up a shut-in playing videogames.

However, upon seeing Stain's last stand on T.V., Spinner became influenced by his ideology and formed a desire to change society to something better.[1]

Synopsis[]

Vs. Hero Killer Arc[]

Spinner debut

Spinner inspired by Stain.

Three days after Stain's defeat, Spinner is seen smiling while putting on a mask similar to the Hero Killer's and brushing his hair back with his hands.[2]

Forest Training Camp Arc[]

Spinner joins the other members of the Vanguard Action Squad as they look down at the camp where the students are staying. Later, once the invasion begins, he is seen grinning alongside Magne as Pixie-Bob lies on the ground, hurt and unconscious.[3]

Vanguard Action Squad Invasion

Spinner and Magne make their entrance.

He then introduces himself and the other villains as the League of Villains' Vanguard Action Squad. Once Magne threatens to smash Pixie-Bob's face, Spinner tells Magne not to hurry and Tiger to calm down. He questions if Magne believes in Stain's ideals, and recognizes Tenya Ida as one of the people who brought about Stain's defeat. He then says his name and declares that he will be the one to make Stain's dream come true while revealing the enormous sword he had been carrying on his back. After Tiger reprimands him for scarring Pixie-Bob's face, he questions if heroes truly dream of finding ordinary happiness in life.[4]

Spinner attacks Mandalay with his huge sword and she uses her Quirk to compliment him. The compliments make him blush and she is able to dodge his attack and scratch him with her cat gloves because of this. Spinner then insults her for using such a dirty trick on him. Before she can attack Spinner again, Magne uses her Quirk to pull Mandalay to her. Tiger saves Mandalay and they start fighting each other.[5]

Telepath

Spinner gets flustered by Mandalay's "Telepath" Quirk.

While he is fighting Mandalay, his huge sword is destroyed by Izuku who used his Quirk to reach Mandalay as quickly as possible to tell her that Kota Izumi is okay. Mandalay continues to fight Spinner while Izuku starts to leave the battlefield. Magne, however, realizes that Izuku must be killed because he defeated Muscular; Magne starts to go after Izuku.

However, Magne cannot reach him because Spinner throws a knife between her and Izuku, thus stopping her from pursuing Izuku further. Magne scolds him for this action because Izuku is on the priority kill list of the Vanguard Action Squad. Spinner then clarifies that the list belongs to Tomura and tells Magne that Midoriya was the person that Stain saw fit to save thus being a man worthy of the title of a true hero. Mandalay uses this diversion to kick Spinner in the face.[6]

Mandalay restrains Spinner

Spinner gets overpowered by Mandalay.

Spinner is eventually overpowered and apprehended by Mandalay. Spinner curses the Pussycats and vows to fulfill Stain's mission. Kurogiri arrives and rescues Spinner and Magne, teleporting them back to the League of Villains' hideout.[7]

Hideout Raid Arc[]

After Katsuki and the League of Villains watch a video clip of U.A.'s public apology, Tomura understands why society is criticizing U.A. for their failure and that is because the current Hero society is not just. Spinner agrees that the current Hero society isn't just since the modern Heroes are only doing their job for compensation and not out of selflessness. Tomura explains that the League of Villains are fighting for a just society and intends to win this battle.

Katsuki and the League of Villains

Tomura invites Katsuki to join his cause.

Tomura orders Dabi to remove Katsuki's restraints, although Dabi is unsure since Katsuki might attack; Tomura wants to treat Katsuki as an equal and is aware that Katsuki knows he has no possibility of winning. Dabi orders Twice to remove the restraints. As Twice removes the restraints, Mr. Compress apologizes to Katsuki for forcibly kidnapping him and explains that the League of Villains are not just a group of hoodlums perpetuating crimes nor did they casually abduct him; he goes on by saying that everyone in the League of Villains is shackled by the current society and hopes that Katsuki understands their discrimination.

Katsuki's restraints are removed. As Tomura approaches, Katsuki attacks Tomura with his Explosions. Katsuki tells the League of Villains that it is pointless to try and make him change his mind as he has already been won over by the way All Might looks when he wins. Katsuki says that from the beginning he has dreamed of becoming a Hero and surpassing All Might and nothing they say will change that.[8]

Spinner's fear of All Might

Spinner being captured by Kamui Woods.

Suddenly, All Might breaks in with Kamui Woods swinging in and restrains Spinner along with the other League of Villains with his Lacquered Chain Prison.[9]

Out of nowhere, Nomu appear from a mysterious black liquid which takes the Pro Heroes off guard. Spinner along with the League of Villains are teleported by the mysterious black liquid to the League of Villains' destroyed warehouse where Sensei is.[10]

Sensei forcefully activates Kurogiri's Quirk which creates a portal for the League of Villains to escape through.[11]

Gran Torino vs

Gran Torino knocks out the Villains.

After Katsuki is rescued by Izuku, Tenya, and Eijiro, Mr. Compress along with Magne and Spinner hatch a plan to recapture Katsuki. Magne magnetizes Mr. Compress and Spinner pushes him, causing Mr. Compress to fly at Izuku's group. Suddenly, Mt. Lady uses Titan Cliff and intercepts Mr. Compress, which causes them to smash into each other, preventing Mr. Compress from getting to the students. Magne and Spinner prepare to throw Twice, but Gran Torino blitzes them causing them to become unconscious.

The unconscious Spinner along with Tomura and the Vanguard Action Squad are forcefully magnetized by Magne's Quirk courtesy of All For One; Spinner is sucked into Kurogiri's Warp Gate and teleported away.[12]

Shie Hassaikai Arc[]

Spinner has doubts

Spinner questions about attacking the police.

Following Overhaul's defeat, the League of Villains seek revenge against the Shie Hassaikai and attack the Police who are transporting him. Spinner is handling the driving with Tomura, Dabi, and Mr. Compress on board. Dabi tells Spinner to stop swerving and drive better to which the latter takes offense to saying that he learned how to drive from playing video games like Grand Theft Auto.

Spinner then questions how attacking the Police Force helps with creating a true hero society and whether they are actually following Stain's will. Tomura reassures Shuichi that it is a necessary sacrifice. After Mr. Compress and Tomura take revenge on Overhaul and steal his Quirk-Erasing Bullets, they leave the place.[13]

Meta Liberation Army Arc[]

Less than a month before the Hero Billboard Chart JP, the League of Villains is in a sorry state. They're barely scraping by with no funds and have resorted to stealing from other criminal groups, while hiding out in an abandoned run-down building. Sometime during this period while the League are taking it easy, Twice asks Himiko if she wants a Villain name of her own, with Mr. Compress and Spinner adding that her and Tomura are the only ones without one. Himiko refuses one, as Spinner suggests "Vampiress Carmilla", and Twice suggests "Suck-Suck" (and "Lickitung"), with Himiko rejecting both, and Dabi referring to them as stupid and just a holdover from before the Quirk registration system.

Tomura proceeds to explain how in the past there used to be no difference between Heroes and Villains, with one theory being that aliases were originated when you had an anonymous enemy and needed to call them something. From there, some adopted those nicknames to hide their identities, and eventually, they went all in with the code-names ripped straight from comic books, leading to the world becoming like a comic book itself. Tomura says he's good without one, even though he thinks they can be cool, and Himiko jumps for joy, saying that is why she joined the League, to live as "Himiko Toga".[14]

Spinner questions Tomura's motives

Spinner confronts Tomura over the sorry state of the League.

Sometime later, after attacking the Creature Rejection Clan and not getting anything of true value, the League returns to their worn-down hideout. Due to his lack of success, an irritated Spinner questions Tomura how long the League will live in filth. Tomura simply replies until they find All For One's personal Doctor. The rest of the teammates do not seem to care about their situation, but Spinner becomes increasingly frustrated and begins to lose patience.

Finally, he begins to shout at Tomura, questioning him what direction the League's aiming for and what his plans are. Spinner points out the only reason he joined the League was due to Stain's ideology and his desire to change society, but the League of Villains aren't going anywhere. Before Tomura can give a clear answer, great rumbling shakes the hideout.[15]

Gigantomachia attacks the League of Villains

Gigantomachia overpowers the League of Villains.

Tomura and his allies immediately evacuate the crumbling building and discover Gigantomachia, who asking for All For One's successor. He claims he devotes himself to All For One and challenges the League to see whether they are worthy of his loyalty. The League of Villains is easily overpowered and Gigantomachia begins to wail and cry, dismayed at their performance, tearfully crying out that Tomura's too weak to be a successor. A familiar voice echoes from the radio and Tomura realizes it's All For One's doctor.[16]

Before the Gigantomachia can kill them by accident due to his frustration, the League of Villains is warped to the secret laboratory of the doctor, who introduces himself under the alias of Daruma Ujiko. Tomura and the League receive criticism and reproaches from Daruma, due to his lack of achievements and progress since the fall of All For One. Then, he asks Tomura what he and his band of young villains plan on showing him.[17]

The League listen to Tomura's story

Spinner listen to Tomura's declaration.

The answer finally makes Spinner understand that Tomura does not follow Stain's ideals.[18] Tomura confesses that he felt empty before meeting All For One. The fragments of his past are buried inside a hole in Tomura's heart that acts as an endless source of rage. Tomura believes that no matter what, he will always have this weight on his heart and that's why he hates everything, and why he wants to destroy everything. Tomura tells that he will show Daruma heaven and hell if he will help.

Entertained, Doctor Ujiko agrees to help make Tomura's childish dreams come true, but still believes the League is weak and they need to prove themselves. They will not receive his full support until Tomura gets Gigantomachia to submit. This conversation causes Tomura to develop more determination to reach his goals, and after one adjustment to a small Nomu, Daruma returns them to Gigantomachia. The second confrontation starts.[19]

Shuichi dons his mask

"It must be nice to be a free spirit."

In mid-December, after a month and a half of first making contact with Daruma Ujiko and Gigantomachia, The League is still fighting to get the giant to submit. Tomura is Gigantomachia's main target and doesn't care that other members, who take turns assisting Tomura in battle, having few hours of rest.

On their way to meet with the other members, Spinner reflects on how the League no longer aligns with Stain's ideals. He questions Himiko on why she is still with the League. She responds that she still loves Stain, Izuku Midoriya, and Ochaco Uraraka too and that she wants to 'become' them. Spinner notes how carefree she is. When they come across Tomura, Spinner notes how his eyes still possessed the look of a determined boy chasing after his dreams.

The League of Villains check the news

The League discusses what to do about the Meta Liberation Army threat.

At that time, the League receives a sudden call from Giran, but it turns out to be someone else entirely. The voice on the phone introduces himself as Re-Destro, Grand Commander of the Meta Liberation Army. Re-Destro explains that they have Giran alive, that his army is made up of thousands of soldiers, that thanks to their satellite they have already located the position of the League, and that they have the power and the influence to mobilize the heroes against them. Spinner is shocked by Re-Destro's claims.

Re-Destro wants the revolution that changes society to be led by the Liberation Army but the League's popularity is interfering, therefore must be eliminated. As a declaration of war, Re-Destro gives Tomura the choice to bring the League to Deika City in Aichi Prefecture to face the Meta Liberation Army and be destroyed, or do nothing and be captured by the heroes when he gives their location.[20]

Spinner vs

Spinner struggles to withstand the power of the Meta Liberation Army.

When Tomura states his intention of confronting the Meta Liberation Army, Spinner states his worry about facing an army they know nothing about outnumbered only to learn that Tomura's intention was to lure Gigantomachia to the Army and make them weaken him.[21]

After they Warp to Deika City, The League is confronted by the Hero Slidin' Go who takes the League to the center of the city. Once there, he meets one of the commanders, Trumpet, who introduces himself and welcomes them, and announces the start of the Revival Celebration. Suddenly, the League is attacked by the citizens of Deika[22]

Shuichi compares himself to Koku

Spinner's renewed resolve to help his leader.

While fighting the Meta Liberation Army, Spinner notices Tomura's Quirk being transmitted to things he hadn't touched.[23] As Tomura and Spinner continue towards the tower, Tomura asks Spinner if they still should've waited before confronting the Army with Spinner replying that even if they hadn't come, the Army would've still reported them to the Heroes and that the League was screwed either way. After getting overrun with the arrival of Twice's clones, Spinner shifts his attention to Koku Hanabata.[24]

Spinner deduces the power Trumpet and the rest of the higher-ups possess after hearing him announce Curious's death to their followers in order to motivate them to continue fighting. Deciding to take him out to lessen Tomura's burden. However, Trumpet declares that Spinner will never accomplish anything with his weak Quirk and 'hikikomori' lifestyle.

Spinner witnesses Tomura's triumph

Spinner witnesses Tomura's triumph over Re-Destro.

Spinner retorts that while he has nothing to love as Himiko does, he wants to ensure Tomura's future comes to pass, while also yelling that the Meta Liberation Army can't do anything without latching on to someone else similar to himself.[25]

With help from Twice, Spinner finally latches on to Trumpet's truck. He then sees Tomura destroy a huge chunk of Deika City with his Quirk and Re-Destro admit defeat to him, while also stating the Meta Liberation Army was now under Tomura's command. Spinner was amazed and mentally notes the 'utterly destroyed horizon' looked beautiful.[26]

The Paranormal Liberation Front (Anime)

Spinner introduced as a lieutenant of the alliance.

A few days later after the battle, Spinner relaxes with his comrades eating sushi at the expense of the Meta Liberation Army. He asks Dabi if he will like some but he replies that he hates fish. Then he comments that Twice's mental condition seemingly getting worse. Koku and Tomoyasu arrive to take them to the underground sanctuary for the speech.

During Re-Destro's speech, Himiko asks him on Tomura still having one of his signature hands and he tells her one hand survived. He and the rest of the League came on stage when Tomura announced the Meta Liberation Army and League of Villains will become the Paranormal Liberation Front (which Spinner and Re-Destro coined together), becoming one of its Lieutenants. After the speech, he wonders aloud how Re-Destro is a CEO because of his now submissive attitude to Tomura. Spinner is surprised when Tomura collapses from his injuries, though is fine for the most part.[27]

My Hero Academia: Heroes: Rising[]

Spinner pulls one of the cars off the road

Spinner pulls a car off the road.

At some point after the clash, Tomura and his allies are requested by Ujiko to transport one of his projects to a certain place. The League questions him what it is about but Ujiko simply tells them it has nothing to do with them. With that being said, Spinner, Dabi and Mr. Compress are assigned to do the task. Although they dislike being treated like regular deliverymen, the three agree to do Ujiko's request.

On one late winter night, the League uses an armored truck to transfer the cargo while fleeing from a group of pursuing Pro Heroes on night duty. It turns out that the information about the special delivery was leaked out and the Heroes set up an ambush on the mountain road they are going to pass, starting a persecution. Spinner steps on the accelerator of the truck to escape as fast as possible from the heroes that are chasing them in cars. While Dabi and Compress use their Quirks to attack the heroes, Spinner uses his driving skills to get rid of their pursuers.

Spinner rams a hero car

Spinner rams another hero car.

With his maneuvers, Spinner uses the truck to push off the road one of the cars trying to overtake them, knocking it down the ravine. Another of the cars uses the wall to overtake the truck and manages to get in front of it. A heroine emerges from the sunroof and attacks with her electric Quirk, but Spinner stomps on the accelerator and rams the car, knocking it off while the heroine falls on the road. Dabi and Compress manage to make the rest of the heroes crash.

Although they successfully blocked off their pursuers, Spinner is pissed off and wonders who alerted the Heroes of their escape route, to which Dabi replies it must've been an info leak. To Spinner's surprise, at the end of a turn he finds there is roadblock guarded by another team of Heroes lead by Endeavor. Spinner accelerates the truck with the intention of running over Endeavor while Dabi unleashes a powerful blast of his flames at him.

Spinner complains about Endeavor’s interference

Spinner annoyed that the Heroes are trying to stop the League.

Unfazed by this sudden move, Endeavor strikes back with Prominence Burn, which overpowers Dabi's attack and consumes the truck in a burst of flames. The villains melt into sludge as they turn out to be clones created by Twice. The burning truck rolls off the road and crashes at a nearby forest, which was later revealed to be exactly where Ujiko wanted them to drop off the cargo.

A few days later, the League of Villains are talking at a rundown shack in the middle of nowhere. They discuss about the cargo they transported, as no one knows what was inside other than Tomura, who tells them that it's a personal project of the doctor and that they should not meddle in the matter.[28]

Endeavor Agency Arc[]

PLF commanders arguing

The Paranormal Liberation Front preparing for the uprising.

After the organization's formation, Spinner and the lieutenants are present at a meeting in which Hawks informs them of Endeavor's decision to take on two new interns other than Shoto.

Once Hawks ends his talk and leaves, the group discusses a plan to destroy everything that would take four months to carry out.[29]

Paranormal Liberation War Arc[]

The Villa is under attack

The Gunga Mountain Villa is under attack.

Within the next two months the villains prepare for their ultimate plan to take down hero society. While Tomura undergoes his operation, Spinner and Mr. Compress primarily work alongside Re-Destro for the organizing, with them both leading the Brown Regiment.[30] However, the Heroes attack first with Spinner, Himiko, and Mr. Compress all together in one of the Villa's rooms as it begins.[31]

He proceeds to head to the underground bunker, observing the ongoing chaos.[32] He ends up locked there for several minutes along with hundreds of members of the Paranormal Liberation Front due to the heroes having sealed the entrances. Fortunately for them, Tomura had managed to wake up and ordered Gigantomachia to bring him his allies.[33]

Spinner and Mr

Mr. Compress asks Spinner what's going on.

The behemoth grabs Spinner and pulls him onto his back before making his way to the surface, where he picks up remaining the League of Villains members. Mr. Compress asks Spinner what's going on, but he doesn't know. Dabi deduces that Tomura has been awakened and decides to take Skeptic with them. Gigantomachia immediately heads for Tomura's position, with the villains riding on his back.[34]

Several heroes like Mt. Lady, Kamui Woods, and Midnight try to stop the Walking Disaster, but between him and several members of the League, they manage to get rid of them and continue on their way. Midnight manages to contact the support group made up of students so that they prepare a trap for them.[35] Seeing how the students managed to pin down Gigantomachia, Spinner suggests theme ll going underground, although Mr. Compress reminds him that doing so would definitely kill them. Suddenly, the heroes ambush the lieutenants on the giant's back.[36]

Villains watch the havoc wreaking by Gigantomachia

Spinner watches Gigantomachia tear down multiple cities.

Gigantomachia stands up, sending the heroes falling to their death, and realizes he should take out the heroes before he goes to Jaku. He then is attacked by the heroes flying on Majestic's rings, after Red Riot threw the jar with the sedative into his mouth.[37] Gigantomachia defeats all the heroes and starts running towards Tomura's location, with the lieutenants on his back, as the rest of the PLF follows behind.[38]

The Heroes, however, start regrouping and Skeptic notices that using his Satellite Image. He starts forming a strategy to counter them, but Mr. Compress tells him to zoom in on Uravity and Froppy, which catches Himiko's attention. She goes to Mr. for her gear and rushes towards them, making Mr. regret spotting the girls. Mr. Compress continues to dissuade her and even asks Dabi for help, but he dismisses it.

Spinner tells Himiko to return safely

Spinner assures Himiko the League will always be family.

Spinner finally speaks up and tells Himiko that he believes himself and the others to be nothing and that they are strays that just happened to find one another, so she isn't the only one upset about Twice's death. He reminds her that their group was what Twice considered a family, and Tomura would probably like to see them all together. He says that their brand as the Paranormal Liberation Front is to let folks do as they want, but she should come back to them quickly. Himiko smiles at him in gratitude.[39]

When Gigantomachia finally arrives at the battlefield, he saves Tomura from certain death and Spinner notes how Tomura is in a bad shape.[40] Gigantomachia puts his master on hus back, while Spinner attempts to tend to the wounded Tomura, while telling him to order Gigantomachia to do something, but Tomura appears to be knocked unconscious. Dabi reveals that he's the son of Endeavor and Mr. Compress and Spinner comment on how he hasn't shared this information with the League.[41]

Spinner bites Tomura's head

Spinner does what he can to wake up Tomura.

Suddenly, Best Jeanist arrives on the scene and uses his Quirk to pin down Gigantomachia and the League. Spinner is ensnarled with Tomura and realizes that Gigantomachia needs to have an order to do anything, so he desperately pleads Shigaraki to wake up, going as far as to biting his head. Before Nejire can finish the villains off, Tomura wakes up and activates Dabi's Quirk, blasting her away. Barely able to talk, Tomura orders Gigantomachia to destroy, to which the latter vigorously agrees and begins to tear his restrains.

Best Jeanist uses all his might to try and keep the behemoth in place, but suddenly four of the Near High-End Nomu approach the battleground, hoping to distract the hero. Compress says to Spinner that luck is on their side after all, but suddenly Lemillion appears from the ground and knocks back the Nomu.[42]

Blackout Bind

Best Jeanist tries to strangle the League of Villains.

However, the Nomu retailate and are about to maul Best Jeanist. Before they can do this, the Heroes engage them in battle. As this is happening, Bakugo reveals his hero name "Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight", which Spinner finds very tacky.[43] Suddenly, Best Jeanist uses his Ultimate Move Blackout Bind on the captured League, hoping to knock them unconscious.[44]

However, Mr. Compress sacrifices a part of his body to free himself and orders Spinner to somehow wake Tomura up, compressing them, and starts making his way on top of Gigantomachia. Later, he decompresses them both on top of the giant, declaring that it's his first and last escape performance.[45]

Spinner and Tomura inside Mr

Spinner helps Tomura inside Mr. Compress' marble.

Right after that, Mr. Compress charges right at Lemillion, hoping to buy Spinner some time. He thinks to himself how he noticed earlier that the mass of Near High-End Nomu moving on Tomura's command, and that if they can wake up him he can call them all toward them and turn the tide of battle.

Keeping Lemillion busy, he entrusts Spinner with the role of regaining Tomura's consciousness, while hiding the compressed Dabi and Skeptic within his scarf, reasoning that Spinner is the most devoted to Tomura. Spinner finds the burnt remains of Tomura's grandmother's hand in his pocket, which he then places on his leader's face right as Lemillion and Best Jeanist's cables are about to grab them.

The Near High-End Nomu escape with Spinner and Tomura

The Nomu escape with Spinner and Tomura.

Tomura finally awakens and uses Radio Waves to blow Lemillion, the cables, and all the other fighting heroes away, while the Near High-Ends turn to face Tomura. However, it turns out All For One is in command of Tomura's body. All For One proceeds to order the Nomu to grab ahold of him and Spinner to make their getaway. Spinner tries to question Tomura about leaving Mr. Compress and Gigantomachia behind, as well as Himiko Toga who hasn't returned yet, but All For One tells him that Tomura has been defeated by One For All and Endeavor, so he must pay for that for All For One's sake.

Deku makes a last attempt at stopping the villains, but All For One blows him away, and the Nomu escape into the horizon, carrying All For One in Tomura's body and Spinner with Dabi and Skeptic in his scarf.[46]

Spinner feels puzzled

Spinner asks who he is following.

Later that night, controlling Tomura's body, All For One attacks Tartarus, rescuing his former body and unleashing hundreds of villains. After All For One returns from the prison, he asks Spinner, Dabi, and Skeptic to watch over Tomura's body while he rests. However, Spinner looks on sullenly at "Tomura", telling him he's not the one he chose to follow, but All For One tells him that he insists that he has the best intentions for Tomura's wishes, and that once his body is perfected, their desires will be achieved.[47]

Star and Stripe Arc[]

Over the next month, Spinner continued to keep watch over the recovering Tomura and All For One, as they hid within an enclosed cave alcove. All For One gloats about having "winning" their game of hide-and-seek with the Heroes, with Spinner asking why they didn't just leave the country to win, and All For One responding evading everyone was his first goal, and his next goal is to get his hands on One For All.

Spinner wonders why it isn't the final goal, leading All For One to explain that he has planned ahead for a long time, and further state how he has used his connections all over the world to stir up trouble, preventing foreign countries for providing their assistance. He then proceeds to tell him that the No. 1 American Hero, Star and Stripe, is on her way to intervene, and while that may be trouble for them, if he can get a hold of her Quirk, then nothing will be a problem anymore. He then tells Spinner that after spending this time guarding him, he will be the one to support Tomura in his crusade as "one who spins this tale", reminding him of his status as a heteromorph.[48]

U.A. Traitor Arc[]

Tomura's transformation

Spinner watches over Tomura's "transformation".

All For One sends "Tomura" out to fight Star and Stripe, and while he is successful in stealing her Quirk, New Order, the result was it acting like a virus within his body, causing his Quirk Factors to go haywire, and forcing him to retreat. He returns to their secret cave, keeling over in pain, with All For One saying he just needs to rest until they are healed up. Spinner goes to his aid to help him recover, while All For One discusses his next plan with Dabi, to utilize his "U.A. Traitor", Yuga Aoyama.[49][50]

Sometime later, Spinner hears screaming down a dark hallway and goes to check on Tomura, only to see a monstrous mutated body emerging from the shadows, which then transforms into "Tomura" himself. All For One tells Spinner not to worry as his recovery is progressing smoothly, gradually overcoming the Quirk Singularity. Spinner asks if he's "still Tomura", which he claims he is. Skeptic then speaks to Spinner, reminding him of the high percentage of villain criminals that are mutants, and that most heteromorphs bare a hatred to Heroes because of the racial inequality they feel. He continues that when the League of Villains first started, the world was exposed to him, which led to wannabes copying his costume and now he's become a guiding light for heteromorphs everywhere.

Spinner assembles the villains

Spinner reluctantly assembles his army.

Spinner tries to say they have it all wrong and that he's not trying to serve some great cause, but Skeptic says the die has already been cast, and the common rioters in the street are awaiting his lead: he will pull the trigger in Re-Destro's stead. Handing him a communication device, Spinner thinks about how it doesn't matter what he thinks anymore, that they're past the point of no return, and he's only here for Tomura's sake. "Tomura" tells him to bring it all down, as All For One confidently states that "everyone can be somebody's hero", as Spinner reluctantly prepares to command and assemble the remnants of the Paranormal Liberation Front.[51]

Final War Arc[]

Spinner receives a new Quirk

Spinner receives a new Quirks from All For One.

As the preparations for the final War against the Heroes is about to begin, All For One offers up more Quirks to some of the other members of the League. Dabi turns it down, feeling like he doesn't need more power to accomplish his goals, while Spinner accepts this, believing he won't be of use to anyone without more power.[52] All For One grants him two additional Quirks, Body Bulk, granting him the capability of increasing his body mass, and Scalemail, which allows him to grow scales all over his body, which he states will give him the appearance of a true leader.[53]

On the day of battle, while All For One summons the main generals of the Paranormal Liberation Front, plus several soldiers, to capture Izuku Midoriya, and promptly be caught off guard by the Heroes' own plans, Spinner is not among them. Instead he is in charge of an army of heteromorphs, consisting of members of the Liberation Front, as well as civilians who support their cause in regards to the discrimination they have faced, with the task of storming Central Hospital and freeing Kurogiri.

Spinner rallies his mutant army

A gigantic Spinner leads his heteromorph army.

As they make their way toward it they are met with resistance from the Heroes defending the building. While battling, the now gigantic Spinner overhears Present Mic announce to the battlefield that Dabi has been defeated by Shoto, and is unable to believe it, calling it "information warfare". Thinking about how Dabi had everything, including a purpose, goal, and power, while he had nothing, he declares there's no way someone like him could've lost, and orders his heteromorph army to get Kurogiri back, and destroy their status quo, for him and Tomura's sake.[52]

Thanks to the overwhelming number of the heteromorphs, at 15,000 compared to the Heroes and Police Force of 200, they are able to overpower their enemies, pushing and creating a path for their leader so he can reach the Hospital, declaring him to be their hero. However, due to the extra Quirks he received from All For One, Spinner's mind begins to grow more unstable. Even though he doesn't know what anyone is saying, all that matters to him is doing as he is told and take Kurogiri back.

Spinner unleashes Scalemail on Mezo

Spinner's Scalemail morphs him into a monstrous figure.

Just as he's about to attack a group of officers, Mezo Shoji appears and unleashes an Octoblow attack to knock him over. In retaliation, the army hoards over Mezo, calling him a traitor for thinking he's some kind of hero. In response, Mezo asks what attacking the Hospital has to do with their cause, telling them how back during the Jaku City attack, the first thing the Heroes did was evacuate the patients and made sure everyone was safe, and if they thought of that too. He pushes the army off of him, and declares to Spinner that if they don't have some kind of plan, he won't let it stand.[54]

The rest of the army shout to Spinner for an answer, supporting that they'll follow his word, but his continuingly muddied mind just goes blank, so simply replies that he does not care. This confuses the group, so a Liberation soldier steps in, claiming that he is saying that spilled blood is unavoidable, riling everyone back into fighting.

Mezo tells Spinner the attack will only set their cause back 30 years, but he tells him to shut up, starting to transform his body. Thinking back to his friendship with Tomura as motivation, Spinner activates his Scalemail Quirk, covering his entire body in scales, charging and slicing at Mezo in the air, while shouting at the army to press forward.

Octospansion and Hitchcock Birds

Spinner is attacked by Tentacole and Present Mic.

Mezo continues to fight Spinner, yelling that he has also suffered discrimination, and those people are in the wrong, but wonders if there is another way, though all Spinner can angrily shout is to tear it all down. He tells him to think about how he channels their rage, as their argument and battle catches the attention of the army. Mezo transforms his body further, and in response to Spinner calling him gross, he replies it's who he is.[55]

Mezo unleashes "Octospansion", swiping Spinner in the stomach, accompanied by Mic's Voice attack, which blasts Spinner backwards. Mezo yells to Spinner and the civilians, asking what do they want to protect with their gifts and power, and tells them not to exploit their wounds and be better than avengers.

Spinner responds back with the "call to action" he declared before the war started, that their grudge will never fade and if the heroes win, nothing will change. When they are hit, they must hit back, commanding his comrades to follow him. He blasts his way toward the hospital with insane strength, cracking the concrete, while the rest of the army follow suit.

Present Mic knocks down Spinner

Present Mic tries to stop Spinner from waking up Kurogiri.

Busting into the hospital's entrance, Spinner thinks about how All For One told him Kurogiri should be at the research ward, and to play a recording of either his or Tomura's voice, so that they may use his Quirk to end the war, which will make him a hero for Tomura's sake. Spinner continues to barrel forward, toward the facility, right past the nurses attempting to defend the hospital.

As he continues to run, Spinner imagines himself in his normal form, thinking about how he always thought he was a nobody, but if he reaches Kurogiri, he will become "somebody", and how much people are following him now. But when he turns around, he finds no one else is there. Without his followers, Spinner becomes nothing. Instead, Present Mic emerges, stating that Mezo had reached them, and that "he" won't be their ace. Approaching the tied up villain, Spinner and Mic each call out to Kurogiri and Oboro Shirakumo respectively.[55]

Spinner puts the hand on Kurogiri’s face

Spinner uses Tomura's hand to wake up Kurogiri.

When Kurogiri doesn't respond to either of them, right before Spinner could use the recording device to awaken him, Present Mic attacks him with his Voice, shattering his armor and destroying the recording device. Completely exhausted, Spinner reverts back to his true form, unable to move his body. He looks on believing that he has failed, with no one following him, and no way to wake Kurogiri up. As his mind is starting to break, he realizes the passion got him worked up to take a stand, but in actuality, all he wanted was to follow Tomura and help him stand tall.

He then notices Tomura's remaining hand on the ground in front of Kurogiri, which he had brought with him. With his memories of Tomura fuelling him, Spinner grabs the hand, and summons his last remaining strength to place it toward Kurogiri, telling him to save Tomura. As a result, "Kurogiri" breaks free from his restraints, and with the face of Oboro partially appearing, declares he is "the protector of Tomura Shigaraki", as Spinner passes out on the ground.[56]
