"This is a contest of skill. Letting someone who didn't do anything advance... doesn't it defeat the whole point of the Sports Festival? Isn't it even against the rules?"

U.A. Sports Festival Arc

Nirengeki participates in the Obstacle Race and makes it to 33rd place.[1] Then, he, Mashirao Ojiro, and Yuga Aoyama become brainwashed by Hitoshi Shinso in the Human Cavalry Battle, so Hitoshi's team is formed. Later, Hitoshi's team comes in 3rd place.[2] Before the battle tournament, Nirengeki resigns from the tournament because he did not win consciously.[3]

School Trip Arc

When Class 1-B arrives at the training camp. Homeroom teacher Sekijirou Kan explains they will be extending their quirks and the more they use their quirks, the stronger they will be by breaking their limits. When Class 1-B witness Class 1-A's training. Afterwards Itsuka Kendo asks Shota Aizawa if can they observe everyone, he explains that is the reason The Pussycats are around.[4]

Quirk and Abilities

Twin Impact: Nothing is known about Nirengeki's Quirk other than its name.

Trivia

  • His surname, Shōda (庄田?), is homophonous with Shōda (掌打?), meaning "palm strike"; while his given name, Nirengeki (二連撃?), means "two hit combo". Thus, his full name translates to "palm strike, two hit combo". In the fifth volume, Horikoshi referred to this as his "greatest naming achievement to date."
  • He likes to watch boxing matches.

Quotes

  • (To Midnight and the other Sports Festival participants) "This is a contest of skill. Letting someone who didn't do anything advance... doesn't it defeat the whole point of the Sports Festival? Isn't it even against the rules?"[5]
