Nirengeki Shoda ( (しょう) () () (れん) (げき) Shōda Nirengeki?) is a student of Class 1-B at U.A. High School.

Appearance

Nirengeki is a chubby person with light, chin-length hair and big black eyes with small pupils.

Personality

Nirengeki has a very humble attitude, as he will not take credit for something he does not feel he earned by his own strength.

Synopsis

U.A. Sports Festival Arc

Nirengeki participates in the Obstacle Race and makes it to 33rd place.[1] Then, he, Mashirao Ojiro, and Yuga Aoyama become brainwashed by Hitoshi Shinso in the Human Cavalry Battle, so Hitoshi's team is formed. Later, Hitoshi's team comes in 3rd place.[2] Before the battle tournament, Nirengeki resigns from the tournament because he did not win consciously.[3]

Forest Training Camp Arc

When Class 1-B arrives at the training camp. Homeroom teacher Sekijirou Kan explains they will be extending their quirks and the more they use their quirks, the stronger they will be by breaking their limits. When Class 1-B witness Class 1-A's training. Afterward, Itsuka Kendo asks Shota Aizawa if they can observe everyone, he explains that is the reason The Pussycats are around.[4]

Twin Impact: Not much is known about Nirengeki's Quirk other than its name.

Trivia

  • His surname, Shōda (庄田?), is homophonous with Shōda (掌打?), meaning "palm strike"; while his given name, Nirengeki (二連撃?), means "two hit combo". Thus, his full name translates to "palm strike, two hit combo". In the fifth volume, Horikoshi referred to this as his "greatest naming achievement to date."
  • He likes to watch boxing matches.
