  • I agree that the gender-neutral pronouns make it read poorly, but for now there's no way of telling which pronouns they use. So, we could use other gender-neutral pronouns (such as xe/xem), but I'm not sure what else we could do...

where should we put that if i put assumed in brackets after male it it messes up the male symbol image

I think at this point, that's just a sacrifice we're going to have to deal with. Since it's unconfirmed, it might actually be better for the article if we justdon't use a symbol until we get confirmation.

In gender, I would suggest  "Unconfirmed - Presumed Male"

    • Leave the 'Gender' blank and put an announcement near the top of the page

  • Please restore the original uploads. What I mean is, I don't agree with what you did. You added unnecesary room under her feet. But while I somehow can understand that one... the Dabi edit was just odd. Why did you add so much extra space to his left side?

  • Well that is kind of irritating. I saw you had edited the Mei gallery, but then when I figured I should add some more images I realized I have no idea how to do that after you worked on it. So how do I add images to gallaries such as that one?

  • how do you make your gifs?

    • Basically I have a video of almost every episode of the series. I use the program "Handbrake" to select which part of the episode I need. Generally I only need about ten seconds or so. The program cuts a new video, then I upload that to "Ezgif.com".

I render the gif to 320 pixels wide and edit it to my liking using all their tools (speed, frames etc). Once I'm done, I compress the file size to 3-4 megabytes and save it to my computer.

  • In order to avoid potential slowdowns and better loading, we have to enforce a limit of GIFs per page. No more than 3 animations per page, not counting the Read More section (which already makes things worse, but it's tolerable) and the Images section (obviously).

I will update the Image Policy to reflect this soon (the third bullet section under GIF Animations).

    • The only pages I would put that many gifs on would be synopsis pages. Which are pages flooded with images. A regular anime screenshot is usually about 2-3MBS. Ive learned to keep gifs at about 3-4MBS so they would stay in the same range. I will comply because you've asked me to, but I honestly don't see the need. If you're going to limit gifs for slowdowns then it would only make sense to limit images as a whole. Theres no difference between how much a still image and a gif would slow a page down.

    • While the base files may be of similar file size, in articles the difference is more apparent. Let's use Chizome's page for example:

      • Stain's Bloodlust.gif: 2.08 MB > 663 KB
      • Stain overpowers Shigaraki.png: 2.19 MB > 6.7 KB
      • Bloodcurdle.gif: 2.67 MB > 1.4 MB
      • Episode 29.png: 2.6 MB > 7.9 KB
      • Izuku and Tenya defeat Stain.png: 2.51 MB > 7.9 KB
      • Stain kills Nomu.gif: 3.13 MB > 1.3 MB

    • Ohhhh okay good point. Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't even realize the size change when it gets transferred to an article.

    • Yeah, gifs are wildly inefficient. Each frame is a whole image, which is why it's important to keep gifs short and to cut unnecessary elements.

  • Hey Desboy

You have done a great job with the episode pages; they look far more professional and tidy than when I first edited them. Also, thank you for the quality images you upload.

As for your question regarding the naming structure about "Quirks", in any other context, the q in quirk would be written with a lowercase letter, but since the word is the name of the superpower in the My Hero Academia universe and plays a heavy role, we signify its importance by capitalizing it with a Q.

Again, thank you for your hard work and if you have any more queries, you can leave a message on my talk page. :)

  • I'm going to explain why I used the term dynamic earlier. It's easier through this wall.

The issue is not exactly about static or dynamic images per see. After all, static images are preferred when it comes to infoboxes.

But to describe events that occur in the story, we need images that describe events better. Dynamic images work for those because events by nature are dynamic, but they can also be static, as even a conversation or stare-down between two people is worth having an image for (because they depict interactions and conflicts, important parts of any story). The important thing above all else is that the image should fit its description.

If you describe an image as Shoto surviving an attack by Izuku, then I would expect something more than just Shoto standing in front of some ice. If Izuku's attack was featured (dynamic) or Shoto looked more wounded (static), then the image would've been better. Shoto didn't look like he survived or even withstood an attack.

The issue is pretty much how well the image describes the event. That's all there is to it. We had issues with many manga images showcasing nothing but characters saying stuff, which looked ridiculous as the contents of the speech balloons had to be erased.

But anyway, that one aside, the images you're uploading are great, so keep up the good work.

    • Oh okay thanks, I understand what you mean a lot better now. You're completely right, thanks for explaining. I will do my best to use more eventful images.

  • I'm making a page for Izuku's notebook, so I need a few images that showcase some of its annotations (I know there are few of them scattered around the anime). If you can find and upload them, I'll be thankful.

  • Hello Des and welcome to the Boku no Hero Academia Wiki. Thank you for taking the time to contribute. As you have stated, there is indeed a lack of anime photos on the wiki and since you would like to contribute, a good starting point is to replace the manga photos on the Quirk Apprehension Test Arc, Battle Trial Arc and Unforseen Simulation Joint Arc pages with anime photos; this wiki only uses the gif and png file extensions.

Another way you can contribute is to create new episode pages for an upcoming episode; for example, you can create a new episode page titled Episode 26 and in the page you can type in headings in the following order: Summary, Characters In Order of Appearance, Anime & Manga Differences and Site Navigation.

This is all the advise I have for you now. If you need more guidance, feel free to leave a message on my talk page and I'll respond as soon as possible. Again, thanks for lending a helping hand and I hope you enjoy your stay on the wiki. :)

    • I just got back from Vacation sorry for the late reply. Thanks a lot for getting back to me. I'll take on the task head on. I'll rewatch the series thus far and take stills from every episode and edit/upload as I go.
