Masaki Mizushima (水島 正規 Mizushima Masaki?),[1] also known as "Normal Hero" Manual, is a Pro Hero based in Hosu, Tokyo.

Appearance

Manual is a muscular young man with light colored hair.

His hero costume has a fish fin that is located on the back of his helmet and also has a visor. He wears a shirt that is clear in the middle and dark on both the right and the left side. Manual also wears light-colored gloves. The pants of his costume are black with a small pocket on the back and his boots are white.

Personality

Manual has a very kind, attentive, and ordinary personality. He has an inspiring attitude, as he wants to become a role model for all modern heroes and can complete any tasks simply. In the extras, it is revealed that Manual chose Tenya Iida because he feels similar to Tenya.[2] He also has a very keen mind, as he could figure out the reason that Tenya chose his office was to find Stain.

History

A year prior to starting his teaching career Aizawa was called into a meeting with Best Jeanist, Manual, Desutegoro, Snipe, Thirteen, Endeavor, Air Jet, Midnight, Ingenium, and Gunhead. They were there with an unnamed police officer to speak about the unwilling civilians injected with Trigger. The officer explained that the people in question were more of victims than villains. Endeavor argued that any public use of a quirk is illegal and that they should treat them as villains and let the police investigate the backgrounds of future captures. He said this is the only way to protect the innocent while not risking themselves through hesitating every time they see a knew enemy. All Might, who was not present, had his reply to the problem delivered by Naomasa Tsukauchi. He stated that he would assess the situation at the scene more carefully because as heroes they must not bring harm to innocent citizens. This was in direct opposition to Endeavor's answer greatly angering him.

Synopsis

Vs. Hero Killer Arc

Tenya and Manual On Patrol

Tenya and Manual on patrol.

For his workplace training, Tenya Iida chooses Manual because of his office in Hosu, Tokyo.[3] In the borough of Hosu, Tenya in his hero costume goes on patrol with Manual.[4] After the patrol, Manual mentions that there are not a lot of villains when the borough is so active.[5]

On the third day, when they were out patrolling, Manual asks Tenya if he is chasing after the "Hero Killer" Stain, thinking that would be the only reason Tenya came to the Hosu Hero Office. He tells Tenya not to act out on a personal grudge. Manual apologizes for his question to which Tenya replies that he appreciates his warning.[6]

Battlefield In Hosu

Heroes battling Nomus in Hosu.

When chaos emerges in Hosu by Nomus while he and Tenya were patrolling, Manual tells Tenya to go with him to help out the other heroes.[6] Later, he and other Pro-Heroes try to stop the rampage of two Nomus.[7]

After all the chaos ended, Masaki, Kenji Tsuragamae, and Gran Torino visit Tenya, Shoto Todoroki, and Izuku Midoriya at the hospital, where Kenji explains that all six of them would have been punished had he not decided to make the actions against Stain confidential. Masaki cries a little knowing he has to take responsibility as a supervisor for their negligence. When Tenya bows down and apologizes, Masaki gives him a smack on the head and tells him never to do it again.[8]
