In order to overcome it all without faltering... it's essential for each of you to have concrete goals in mind. Saying "I guess I wanna be a Hero"... won't be enough to scale the mountains that lie ahead.Chiyo Shuzenji to Izuku Midoriya in "Stripping the Varnish"
Chiyo Shuzenji (
Appearance[]
Chiyo is a short, elderly woman with gray hair styled into a netted bun, a large syringe poking diagonally out of it to the left. She has a notably small nose and eyes which are usually drawn as two little dashes, and a long mouth with defined nasolabial folds.
She wears a doctor's lab coat and a dress with yellow and red vest-like designs on either side, two yellow buttons, and a belt with a pink "R"-shaped buckle. She wears pink boots and has a helmet around the sides of her head, a purple-tinted visor joining it over her eyes. In addition, she walks with a cane designed like a syringe that she can also use for healing the injured.
By the eve of the Final War, Chiyo's appearance has become more decrepit, presumably due to overusing her Quirk to help heal the injuries of those who fought in the Paranormal Liberation War.[3]
Personality[]
Chiyo has a kind and compassionate personality, where she treats everyone kindly, as she is usually shown giving her patients sweets to help their energy levels rise from her Quirk's stamina draining effects. Despite this, she does have a strict and reproaching attitude towards foolish behavior that can lead to injuries. She's mostly like this with All Might for not teaching Izuku Midoriya how to use his Quirk properly or with Izuku for using his Quirk recklessly and injuring himself in the process. She eventually refuses to heal Izuku's injuries caused by One For All to prevent this habit from becoming an ongoing cycle, and encourages Izuku to find another way to master his Quirk's power without leading to self-injury.
She can also be quite harsh and critical, as she rebuked Present Mic for being defeated by a swarm of bugs during his practical battle in the First Term Final Exam, despite his entomophobia.
Abilities[]
Medical expertise: After the battle between Izuku and Shoto Todoroki, Izuku's hand was too damaged to be healed by Recovery Girl's Quirk alone, so she had to perform surgery. This suggests that she is actually a professional doctor with proper knowledge of medical science.
Quirk[]
Heal (
With this Quirk, she is able to quickly heal broken bones and several limbs in a matter of seconds. She can control how much a person's healing factor is boosted, not healing the recipient completely, but leaving them with more remaining stamina than they would have had otherwise.
Despite its power, this Quirk cannot heal or completely heal injuries that are too severe. In addition, Heal cannot regrow lost body parts.[4]
